ABOUT THE ROLE:

CR is seeking a Chemical/Materials Science Engineering Intern to support our research and development efforts for both our Glass to Glass (G2G) reclamation technology, and our Pristine Graphene based advanced materials (includes coatings/paints, composites, construction materials, etc.). In relation to composite recycling, we work with clients to analyze the feasibility of recycling their composite and resin systems and support their circularity goals. In the advanced materials space, we play a prominent role in keen and rapid product development for many industries, with a pronounced focus on the coatings/paint and composites industries.

This role will support the preparation, analysis, and iterative development to support circularity focused consulting projects, in addition to laboratory analysis and characterization for product development in advanced materials. The candidate will work under the direction of Senior/Principal Engineers, Program Leads, and Engineering Managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct a range of laboratory experiments and analyses following established protocols and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify solutions to maintain efficient lab operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining organization of equipment and lab materials, which includes proper cleaning of glassware and other lab supplies.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot processing equipment, while collecting raw data.
  • Apply basic knowledge of chemistry and material science principles in composites and polymers.
  • Work closely with product development team, and chemistry/materials experts to perform core laboratory work in support of multi-discipline projects. Assist in the preparation, testing and analysis of laboratory samples; process data and prepare technical documentation.
  • Prepare engineering test protocols and summary reports, and assist process engineer with the implementation of upgrade projects.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be willing to perform hands-on labor both in the laboratory, and with small-scale processing equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
